Israel Postal History - PEDI (Palestine Emergency Deliveries Inc.) cover sent from USA to Israel, frank 25 Cents tied by PEDI p/m May 20 1948 (first flight cover) & with Ceskoslovenske airline Tel Aviv arrival handstamps on front and back. F-VF & scarce.  The PEDI covers was a private company founded by the Jewish Agency in New York, to collect mail and send it to Israel at the time the British ceased their postal activities in the Mandate and air links to it were suspended. PEDI mail was carried as baggage , first on a KLM flights to Rome Italy, and then forwarded to Israel by Czechoslovakian airlines.
